The title "Antonym:Synonym:Homonym" comes from grammar usage in the English language. Antonyms are words that have the opposite meaning; synonyms are words that share meanings with each other; and homonyms are words that are similar sounding but have different meanings. Leaving ones homeland and raising a young family involves creating a new life and thus creating traditions and rituals which acquire altered meaning when placed and practiced in a milieu different to ones own. In this work that evokes childhood memory, identity & motherhood I work reflect on how these new meanings are created in different cultural and social settings.
