The Awakening is constructed from scrambled texts from a book published in 1897 that the artist found in an antiquarian bookstore in New York: 'What A Young Man Ought To Know (Purity and Truth - Self and Sex Series) by Sylvanus Stall' . This classic 'sex education book' was to guide young men into adulthood, without disrupting “Christian” values. My work, 'The Awakening,' is response to the current uprising in the human rights movement in India.
